GST registration

We check whether you need to register, prepare your application on the GST portal, and handle the tax officer's questions until a decision is made. The tax department grants the registration and issues your GST Identification Number (GSTIN).

  • An expert call to check whether registration is required or worthwhile for you
  • Advice on the right route, including the simplified option for small businesses
  • A written scope and itemised quotation before any work starts

Request a quotation

Your quotation lists each of these separately:

When registration is needed

  • Most businesses must register once their aggregate turnover in a financial year exceeds ₹20 lakh. Businesses that supply only goods have a higher ₹40 lakh limit in most states, and some special category states have lower limits.
  • Some businesses must register whatever their turnover, for example most businesses selling goods to customers in other states. We check which rules apply to you.
  • Businesses below the limit can register voluntarily, for example to claim input tax credit or to work with customers who need a GSTIN.
  • Registration is state by state: you need one in each state or union territory you supply from.
  • Since 1 November 2025, applicants whose monthly output tax on supplies to registered businesses will not exceed ₹2.5 lakh can choose a simplified route, with registration granted electronically within three working days of successful Aadhaar authentication.

Documents you’ll need

For the business

  • PAN of the business (for a sole proprietor, the owner’s PAN)
  • Proof of constitution, such as a partnership deed or certificate of incorporation
  • Bank account details: a cancelled cheque or recent bank statement

For the owner, partners or directors, and the authorised signatory

  • PAN and Aadhaar (Aadhaar is used for authentication)
  • A recent photograph
  • Mobile number and email address
  • An authorisation letter or board resolution for the authorised signatory

For the principal place of business

  • Proof of ownership or occupation, such as a recent electricity bill or property tax receipt
  • Rent or lease agreement, if the premises are rented
  • Consent letter from the owner, if you use the premises without a rent agreement (for example, a relative’s property)

Don't send documents with your enquiry. If you decide to go ahead, we'll tell you exactly what's needed and how to share it securely.

How it works

  1. Request a call back

Send the short form or call us. An expert calls you to understand your situation and answer your questions.

  2. Receive a written quotation

It sets out the scope, what is included and excluded, and lists professional fees, government charges and taxes separately.

  3. Share documents

Once you accept the quotation, we send a checklist for your business type and premises.

  4. Application and Aadhaar authentication

We prepare the application and you approve it. The owner or authorised signatory completes Aadhaar authentication using the OTP sent to their phone.

  5. The tax officer's review

The officer may approve the application, ask for clarification, or arrange a premises verification. We answer clarification requests on your behalf.

  6. Registration granted

You receive your GSTIN and registration certificate. We explain which returns you must file and when.

How long it takes

Most of the waiting is with the tax department, so we don't promise a fixed number of days. Applications that pass Aadhaar authentication and the department's checks can be approved within a few working days; others can take longer if the officer asks questions or verifies the premises.

The main things that affect timing:

  • Completing Aadhaar authentication promptly after the application is submitted
  • Clear proof for the principal place of business
  • The officer's clarification requests or premises verification

Common questions

My turnover is below the limit. Should I register anyway?

It depends on your customers and costs. Registering lets you claim input tax credit and work with businesses that require a GSTIN, but you must then file returns every period, even when you have no sales. We'll help you weigh it up on the call.

Can I use my home as my principal place of business?

Yes, with proof that you own or occupy it, and the owner’s consent if it is not yours. The officer may verify the premises.

What is Aadhaar authentication and why does it matter?

The owner or authorised signatory confirms their identity with an OTP linked to their Aadhaar. Applications without successful authentication are more likely to involve a premises verification and usually take longer.

What happens after I get my GSTIN?

You must file returns for every period, including periods with no sales, and returns cannot be filed once three years have passed from their due date. We can take this on through our GST return filing service.
